Khouloud
Administrative assistant

November 2024

Between resilience and technical expertise, Khouloud has transformed temporary work into a real springboard for his career.

Temporary work can also lead to solid things: the permanent contract.

Between determination, civil engineering and newfound stability, Khouloud tells how temporary employment became much more than a transition: the basis for his new life in France.

Graduated in civil engineering in Algeria, Khouloud follows in the footsteps of her father, a passionate and versatile civil engineer. When she arrived in France at the age of 24, she encountered the administrative barriers of the university system and had to put her master's projects aside. Without ever giving up, she multiplied administrative experiences before her encounter with asap.work marked a decisive turning point. Accompanied on a daily basis by Virginie for her recruitment and by Arthur, who helps her overcome the housing difficulties associated with her temporary employment status, she transforms a six-month pre-employment interim into a solid permanent contract within a fire safety design office. Now a technical assistant, she puts her determination at the service of complex projects, proving that construction is above all a human adventure where support makes it possible to build sustainable careers.

I grew up with a civil engineer dad, I followed his example and I saw myself inevitably ending up in construction.

Hello Khouloud.

Hello Steve

Thank you for taking the time today to tell your story. What I would like is for us to start with childhood, where do you come from.

I come from Algeria, from the East, from the city of Mila.

At what age did you decide to go to France and what did you do before?

I was a student. I studied Science and Technology, then specialized in civil engineering in Constantine. I got my bachelor's degree and I did a master's degree for one year. I arrived in France at the age of 24.

Why couldn't you go back to school here?

Because of the college registration and acceptance system. I was on the waiting list and I did not have my turn. So I turned to the world of work.

What was your background?

I started as a multi-skilled assistant in a design office, then customer manager at the Post Office, operational assistant, and now technical assistant.

Have you always been on an interim basis?

Yes, until now. Currently, I am on a permanent contract at KPSS, a fire safety design office in Guyancourt. I worked on an interim basis for 6 months before signing.

What is your daily life?

It's a lot of administrative work: emails, calls, letters, letters, updating documents, but also the preparation of tender files.

Did you imagine finding yourself in a box like this?

Not at all, I discovered that while working with them. Virginie called me after seeing my resume on a job board.

I heard that there was a housing issue?

Yes, I was looking for a place to stay during my interim period. It is difficult being a temporary worker. I was told that there was a Housing Center at asap.work. They accompanied me, sent me ads and sites. Arthur helped me enormously.

Did you think you would end up in construction?

Yes, my dad is a civil engineer in Algeria. He is very versatile: engineer, baker, farmer... I followed the example by doing civil engineering in college.

What can we wish you for the future?

To succeed and to keep coming across such nice people and clubs as supportive as yours.

Thank you Khouloud, and congratulations for your CDI. As a result, interim work can also lead to solid work.
